When buying a Eurasier it is always of the utmost important to cheek the following things

Dam & Sire heath cheeks

Hips

A Eurasier should be hip scored before breeding, this means that an x-ray has been taken by the vet and then sent to the British veterinary association for scoring.
The lower the score the better, a Eurasier can have its hips tested In the UK after 12 months of age.

A UK hip score is given in numbers each hip is scored between 0 and 53.

So if a hip score is 5 / 3  the total is 8 this is a good score   or 43 / 5 the total is 48 this is bad

In Europe they test in letters A,B,C,D,E each hip is scored and so you can see a result of A/A ,A/B or B/A or  B/B for example this good score, a bad score is A/D, D/D , D/B..

We advise you ask to see a copy of the health results before buying a puppy.

Patella

There is no official board that scores patella, so what most breeder do is get their vet to cheek their Eurasiers patella.

But a patella result is only valid once a Eurasier is over 12 months. We advise that you only buy puppy from a breeder if the sire and dam were patella tested after 12 months of age.

Scores are given to each patella from 0 to 3 we advise that breeders only breed from 0/0 patella results if a breeding dog has a 1/1 patella it should only be mated to a dog with 0/0 patella.

Elbows

Scores are given to each elbow from 0 to 3 we advise that breeders only breed from 0/0 elbow results if a breeding dog has a 1/1 elbow it should only be mated to a dog with 0/0 elbows.

When the elbow is scored it is similar to the hip test an x-ray is sent to the BVA (British veterinary association)
